Trending Tips From Passport Online It
There are many ways we interact with others by digital means such as email, messaging, and texting. To help you stay safe from malicious actors, you need to keep vigilant against any communications that are unexpected, pushy, or from an unknown person.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself about a questionable communication:
• Do you know the person who is sending this message?
• Were you expecting a message from this person?
• Before opening any attachment or clicking on any link; do you know what the attachment is or where the link goes to?
• Is the message unnecessarily urgent or pushy for you to take some action?
• Is this from someone you know but something about the message just feels off to you such as being sent at an odd time?
If the answer is yes or you're not sure to any of these questions, then it is best to verify directly with the person who sent it through an alternate communications channel. You could do this by calling them directly, using a separate messaging application you both have previously used, or a fresh email that you address from your contacts list.
Many scammers initiate messages with random questions or statements with limited context to get you to reply. Any messages you can't independently verify were meant for you should be deleted.
Maintaining this kind of awareness will help keep you and your business safe while digitally communicating with others.
