102% Jump in AgentNet Usage to Launch of VacationPORT E-Marketing,
Engagement Online Order System
ALEXANDRIA, VA- (May 1, 2003) ÷ Using
data gathered on April 1, 2003, Vacation.com, North America's largest
vacation selling network, has reported a 102 percent jump in AgentNet
usage over a three-month period. This increase has been attributed
to the launch of Engagement On-line Order System and VacationPORT,
a product search and e-mail marketing tool designed to provide Vacation.com
members with a fast and efficient way to search through preferred
supplier specials and inventory and e-mail offers to their customers.
VacationPORT is a single program combining the most advanced methods
of research and marketing in an easy-to-use technological platform.
It differs from the recently innovated e-Engagement marketing program
in that it places the decision of who and what to e-mail in the
hands of the agent and enables Vacation.com members to be more proactive
in their marketing attempts and hand-tailor specific e-mail offers
to individual customers.
"We've had a great response from our members to the new VacationPORT
e-mail marketing tool," said Dick Knodt, CTC, president & CEO of
Vacation.com. "Average daily logins are over 1,700 per day - up
102 percent from January 1. On any site, that's a marked gain,"
added Knodt.
VacationPORT unique logins represented 11% of the total AgentNet
unique monthly logins. In total, VacationPORT was visited over 4,700
times by agents last month resulting in over 6,300 consumer detailed
offer views.
"These stats clearly show that, despite the war, travel agents are
keeping busy with their marketing activities," said Dave Spinelli,
director of e-commerce for Vacation.com,adding: "To date, this year
has brought significant enhancements to the AgentNet platform and
we expect many more additional improvements as the year rolls on.
In June the site will get an overhaul and we'll be upgrading many
existing features. Come December, more improvements will prove that
the AgentNet platform is the place to be for professional, leisure-oriented
travel agents."
Other recent AgentNet success stories include Vacation Access (VAX),
Consolidator Shopper, On-line Engagement Order Entry and SiteBuilder
Websites.
VAX is a web-based booking system for use by travel professionals
from Trisept Solutions and provides savings to suppliers, who in
turn, pass on the savings to the agents through extra commissions.
The agent controls the booking through VAX and can make changes
and administer bookings that are often not allowable through the
GDS, making this an even more versatile reservations system.
March reports indicate that VAX is up 37% from the previous month
with 18,604 total visits. Consolidator Shopper is an invaluable
tool with which agents can search and compare many different fares
to destinations all over the world. From one screen agents can efficiently
find the best fares for their clients.
Reports indicate that 6,985 agents visited Consolidator Shopper
to book consolidator fares representing an 18% gain over the previous
month.
The new online opt-in process and ordering system that agents use
to pick and choose Vacation.com Engagement promotions in which they
wish to participate is another big AgentNet success. The On-line
Order Entry tool allows agents to order more pieces of direct mail
than currently offered and track their Engagement Sale participation.
In coming months, agencies will also be able to use this system
to create personalized agency messages in direct mail pieces.
The Engagement Order Entry system is now completely paperless and
can only be accessed through the AgentNet platform. Launched on
March 10, 2003, this area of AgentNet was visited 6,487 times by
member travel agents.
Lastly, the number of active AgentNet SiteBuilder agency Websites
has skyrocketed to 1,999 Web sites, up roughly ten percent from
January 1. Vacation.com executives expect that number to continue
to grow as the consortium is offering training in the development
of SiteBuilder Web sites both at its Fifth International Conference
Tech Center in Hollywood, Florida, July 8 - 12, 2003, and through
WebEx, its free on-line technology training tool.
"Vacation.com offers its members the most advanced travel-selling
technology tools available," said Knodt. "The technology and marketing
tools available through AgentNet is the reason our Agents are able
to stay afloat and, in some cases, continue to grow during a slow
wartime economy," added Knodt.
